The founder - Sian Conway
Hi! I’m Sian, and I’m an ethical business mentor. I’m passionate about inspiring and empowering change makers and ethical business owners to create positive impact, reach their goals and create businesses that do good.
I’ve been lucky enough to work all around the world on a wide range of social impact projects. From supporting women to start their own businesses through micro-finance funding in Sierra Leone to engaging underprivileged teenagers in public art to help them change their communities for the better in inner-city Coventry and Birmingham.
I’ve started and run several successful businesses, including ethical fashion brand and blog Little Lotus Boutique, a nationally-recognised contemporary art gallery and an award winning boutique photography studio.
I spent 2 years running a start-up programme for aspiring social entrepreneurs at the University of Leicester and also have a thriving corporate career as head of marketing for a leading tech company, with previous experience in the financial sector.
It’s safe to say I know a fair bit about what it takes to start and run a successful business with social purpose. Through my travels around the world I’ve witnessed first hand the positive social and environmental impact that good businesses can make, and I now dedicate my time to empowering people like you to start and run the ethical business of your dreams!
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
“Sian is and incredible person to work with for many reasons, not least for the impact and value she can create.
A highly capable professional, not only does Sian have the professional knowledge and expertise to help businesses develop and grow, she also invests her energy and passion into helping them to achieve their full potential, helping to identify and promote their true mission and values.”

“Sian has helped me focus on my social media strategy and set SMART goals to work towards. She has also managed to bring together a wonderful group of ethical entrepreneurs to provide support and encouragement in a safe online forum where advice is offered from experts like Sian who use their expertise to grow sales through effective relationship building and branding.”
– Vix, Bough to Beauty
“I worked with Sian back in 2014 when I first set out with my business. She helped me to work through everything from business registration and new packaging to social media strategies. I began to build my brand and expanded my skills with help and advice from Sian. Now, two years on I’ve had a successful rebrand, exhibited at large scale events and added another facet to my products. Despite having finished the consultancy period, Sian has still been supporting and encouraging my business development. I couldn’t recommend her more highly if you are looking for an approachable, dedicated and passionate business coach.”
– Donna Leech, Donna Marie Jewellery
“Sian gave me the courage to start my own photography business back in 2013, she gave me the boost I needed to turn my dream into a reality. I was completely unsure where to start but she guided me through the whole process from initial business ideas to registering with HMRC to giving me tips from her own experience. She was always ready to answer questions whenever I needed her help and I cannot recommend her highly enough!”
– Lucy Withell, A Kite in the Sky Photography
“I spent most of the #EthicalHour hour frantically scribbling notes! I always assumed I couldn’t ‘do’ branding, but now I know it’s all about values, maybe I can!”
– #EthicalHour Twitter chat participant
“Sponsoring #EthicalHour was one of the best social campaign moves we’ve done thus far. As a young platform it was great for market research and to hear genuine responses and ideas to our questions. We would recommend sponsoring #EthicalHour to any brand or platform that wants to grow, learn and interact with a genuine audience!”
– Jiminy Magazine
“Sian has a strong passion for helping ethical companies and her knowledge and experience has really helped us grow. As a new start up company I’ve leaned on her for help and support and she’s always been there with new ideas and opportunities. I’d thoroughly recommend working with her.”
– Sofi, The Pip Box
“2 hours with Sian discussing Social Media marketing strategy was certainly money well spent. Sian took great care to dissect (in layman’s English!) exactly what works, what doesn’t and how to nail the former. I’m indebted to Sian’s knowledge and valour for the topic – she truly knows her stuff, and I look forward to working together again in the future. If you’re a novice at social media strategy, this girl’s your solution. Thanks Sian!”

What I do...
I’m a marketing and PR consultant who specialises in helping ethical businesses start, grow and achieve their positive impact. I regularly appear as a motivational speaker at events across the country and support social enterprises, ethical business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs as a trainer and business coach.
The #1MillionImpactWomen movement brings together female social entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world to have a positive influence on people and planet. The platform aims to bring one million women together by 2020 to form a peer-to-peer support system. I’m proud to be an ambassador for the network, working to connect women in social enterprise and support them to increase the impact of their work.
As founder of the #EthicalHour network, I’m passionate about bringing together ethical business owners and bloggers from around the world, supporting them with the advice and resources they need to grow, and creating a powerful network for social change.
My vision for #EthicalHour is to create an empowered community where people can follow their passions and truly thrive. That way, the ethical economy will grow and ethical living will become the norm.
